TOP TRUMP

This is my top trump card which i made using Photo shop, Illustrator and Indesign.

Project 8: Wing of a bee

For this project we was asked to create a new design on a butterfly wing that projects a meaning behind it. I decided to show racism in my design. i drew a black hand and a white hand just to show the general differences in skin complexion colour. The red string that you see connecting them has a meaning to it also. The color red on the string symbolizes blood. It shows that although the hand cannot physically touch  they are both connected by the same blood.

the second part of this project was to create a digital version of my hand drawn wing using adobe illustrator. As i was using illustrator for the first time i struggled a bit but in the end i think i came up with a simple visual digital outcome

Project 3: Brand me up buttercup

In this project we are asked to reduce someone to a symbol and using their personality to describe it. My partner was Lee and i found out that he is interested in a lot of activities such as biking, playing games and watching wrestling matches. The one thing that i found unique about him was his ability to play the guitar and write lyrics for music. So i decided to simplify that by drawing a hand, which represents Lee himself, scribbling on a piece of paper. This represents his love of drawing in art. I then added music melody notes to show that he also writes lyrics to show Lee's hand writes lyrics!

Project 4: Meet me at the corner

For this project I had 40 tasks to complete which where all displaced around central London. Luckily I managed to complete all 40 tasks and I then had to create a map of my journey. Not all the tasks are on the map but I managed to used Photoshop to create a few

Project 11: Think crime

My perfect crime which I though of was the scenario of a little girl scamming pedestrians as the pass her by. She would do this by eating a box of doughnuts, and then as someone passes her by she would quickly but slyly make the box tip over but make it seem as if the pedestrian had tipped it by accident. She then bursts into tears and anyone with a good heart would feel sorry for her and give her money on the spot to buy a new one.
I decided to make a simple anime style illustration because it is based on a child so I wanted to give the child affect to my design. I also used the ‘Grand theft auto’ style layout to show that it is a crime. I then used Photoshop to add the finishing touches and colours. I really like this design as it shows some of my creative and art skills although I feel I may have made it too colourful and without numbers to display what scene comes first it may not appear as clear as it should be .

Project 7: 100 uses for bricks

  • This project was simple. All we had to do was come up with 100 new uses or bricks. Not much information was stated on the brief so I assumed it was a way of improving our creativity skills and to push us into working as professional graphic designers. I am not yet familiar with illustrator so I jus scanned in my 100 sketches and added my typeface on Photoshop instead.

Project 6: Match maker

This was our first live brief! An organisation named Jotta had asked for ‘diverse, vibrant and colour’ designs for a shop window called matches. I chose not to create repetition for this because I had a feeling everyone else would have done the same; instead I tried to make leaves seem like dancing humans. I attempted to make the leaves look as if they were moving. I think it works quiet well although I am not entirely pleased with the design

Project 5: Pay to play

In this project our tutors gave us a brief which used money as our motivation. The task was redesigning a one pound coin that reflects our current economic crisis. I first began by brain storming everything that I could think of that relates to the economic crisis, such as the rise in taxes and job cuts. I then drew mini sketches in my sketchbook. By using Photoshop In the end I used the red dropping arrow a graph and deliberately showed a prime minister clapping and grinning as if to say everything is ok because that is how I see it portrayed in the media today.
I may not have won the prize but the project was fun and made me think outside the box
